Rick Stein and Jill Stein’s pub The Cornish Arms in St Merryn, Cornwall has announced it will be hosting its second annual Beer & Mussel Festival on the weekend of Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March.
Building on the success of last year’s event you’ll have the opportunity to discover some of the finest Cornish and British beers, as well as enjoying a variety of mussel dishes.
There will also be some great live music playing throughout the weekend with entertainment for children – and hopefully some sun!
Freshly cooked Cornish mussels will be in ready supply of course, with recipes chosen to complement the beers such as Moules Marinière, La Mouclade and mussels with beer and bacon.
The festival weekend will open with a cookery demonstration by Rick’s son Jack, at 12 noon on Saturday.
Rick says: “March is the best month in the year for mussels, any time is good for proper beer brewed by people who love what they do. A big marquee next to our lovely pub with some great bands, a selection of 30 beers and some of my favourite mussel dishes; what could be a better combination on a weekend by the coast in Cornwall?”
The cookery demo will be combined with a talk from St Austell Brewery’s Head Brewer Roger Ryman who comments: “I have selected some of my very favorite cask ales to match with Rick’s fantastic selection of mussel dishes. Great food, great beer, great pub; the festival has all the ingredients of a fantastic weekend’.’
Rick Stein will also be signing books throughout the festival (times to be confirmed).
The festival will run on Saturday 16th March (12 noon – 11pm) and Sunday 17th March (12 noon – 4pm) and will finish with a Charity Pub Quiz raising funds for Children’s Hospice South West on Sunday at 5pm.
