An England Supporter’s Trip To The World Cup – See Footy and Brazil

Christ the Redeemer, an iconic sight you simply must see when visiting Rio.

A Football World Cup in Brazil… what a thought. But if you’re going all that way it would be criminal not to see some of this amazing country too – here’s one package to think about.

The biggest sporting event in the world (yes, bigger than the Olympics even) will grip us this summer. England have been drawn to play in Manaus, Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte in the initial group stages with the opening game in the heart of the Amazon on the 14th June.

Bespoke Brazil, a specialist tour operator, has teamed up with an England Supporters’ Group to create a tour of the country for fans looking to see more than just the football.

The trip begins in Manaus where England play Italy and the group will spend four nights at an Amazon lodge giving fans a chance to explore the jungle and the river rather than staying in Manaus which is not the most inspiring of Brazilian cities. The group will then fly on down to Rio de Janeiro for three nights with a city tour included visiting Corcovado and Sugar Loaf.

The second game in the group is in Sao Paulo, where you will spend three nights and take a city tour. To get there you’ll travel by coach along the Emerald Coast stopping off in Paraty en route from Rio so that you can experience this wonderful colonial town.

The final destination is Belo Horizonte where the group will spend four nights including a tour of the city and a day tour to the historic towns of Ouro Preto and Mariana.

Jungle trekking in BrazilSimon Williams, director of Bespoke Brazil, says: “We’ve put together a tour to showcase this wonderful country rather than just solely focussing on the host cities”

“Travellers will experience some of Brazil’s natural beauty and wildlife, fabulous cities, the beach plus the country’s wonderful historic towns all on a tour with an English speaking guide who will be able to assist with onward arrangements should England qualify from the group”. Based on the group we wouldn’t hold our breathe, but then stranger things have happened, haven’t they?

The 14 night trip is priced at £3,225 per person based on twin share although a single supplement is available. The bad news is that this cost does not include international or internal flights although Bespoke Brazil are ATOL bonded and can arrange these for you. It’s a pretty penny, but what a trip.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup runs from 12th June to the 13th July.

England are drawn in group D and play Italy in Manaus on 14th June; Uruguay in Sao Paulo on 19th June and Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte on 24th June.
