Ten days of total enjoyment of the Toscano cigar and other gourmet vices. Yes, you heard right. This tour follows the natural history of the cigar from the tobacco harvest at Sansepolcro to the cigar factory of Lucca.

You will indulge in Chianina beef steak, white truffles, Chianti Classico, craft beers, Lucca olive oil, and guided tastings of Toscano cigars.

Cultural high points include the frescoes of Piero della Francesca in his birthplace of Sansepolcro and the charming town of Arezzo. You will visit the Castello of Vicopisano designed by Brunelleschi, take in a concert of music by Puccini at a magnificent frescoed church in Lucca, and visits to the house of his birth in Lucca and his villa at Torre del Lago.

This would work for a small group of 12 people maximum and tour dates are 28th August to 7th September 2015.

This journey takes in the whole cigar from leaf to ash.  Visit a tobacco farm, take part in six guided Toscano cigar tastings, a private tour of the historical and scientific tobacco and cigar museum, and discover the Tobacco smuggler’s walk.

Aside from all that, food and drink plays a big part in this travel experience. Every meal is special, showcasing local produce with top class dinners, a farm tour, truffle hunting and a meal on an organic olive oil estate too. There will even be time for a craft beer tour and tasting led by the brewer.

And there is plenty of sightseeing in the countryside of Tuscany, Sansepolcro, Anghiari, Monterchi, Arezzo and Lucca.

The tour was devised by Heather Jarman of Sapori e Saperi Adventures in collaboration with Antonella Giusti of the Congrega dei Fumatori Indipendenti (Society of Independent Smokers). They support limited responsible smoking and drinking. Since Heather founded Sapori e Saperi (flavours & knowledge) in 2006, it has gained a reputation for taking its guests to electronically invisible artisans, where they meet authentic Italians, participate in artisan food and craft activities and discover an Italy they never knew existed.
